[2008-10-30] Vi är hemma igen efter en veckas resa till Kanada. Bra träning, många tuffa matcher men en klar besvikelse över förlusten i kvartsfinalen. Det visade sig att Englot/Regina, våra motståndare i kvartsfinalen, hade prickat formen optimalt och vann också semi och final relativt enkelt. Totalt 32 lag var med i tävlingen där vi var ett av två icke kanadensiska lag. Vi tar med oss massor av nyttiga erfarenheter och ser fram mot träningsläger, elitserien och framför allt EM! Bara 34 dagar kvar idag.

[2008-10-27] Both events on the Manitoba Curling Tour produced runaway finals, as Michelle Englot of Regina and Glenn Howard of Coldwater, Ontario, romped to major cashspiel victories today (Monday, Oct.27th). Englot was a 6-0 shutout winner over Kelly Scott of Kelowna in the final of the CASINOS OF WINNIPEG WOMEN'S CLASSIC at the Fort Rouge Curling Club. Englot's team (with Deanna Doig, Roberta Materi, and Cindy Simmons) earned $16,500, while Scott settled for $11,500, which included an extra $500 for both teams for pay-per-win money in the preliminaries. Kaitlyn Lawes of Pembina, the 2008 Canadian Junior champion, joined Cathy King of Edmonton as losing semi-finalists, worth $6,500 apiece, including their $500 pay-per-win bonuses. Losing quarter-finalists Anette Norberg of Sweden and Barb Spencer of Fort Rouge each earned $4,200, while Cheryl Bernard of Calgary and Jennifer Jones of St. Vital each received $4,100 (32 teams-8 qualifiers). [2008-10-22] The Fort Rouge Curling Club in Winnipeg will play host to the 2008 Casinos of Winnipeg Women’s Curling Classic on October 24-27, 2008. We welcome back our title sponsor, Casinos of Winnipeg as well as our presenting sponsors Ray Turnbull and Kay Sugahara. In addition, we have six Gold sponsors, seven Silver sponsors and twenty-six Bronze sponsors. Thirty-two of Canada’s and the World’s top teams (one from USA and one from Sweden) will assemble in Winnipeg to vie for a prize purse of $62,000., with a top prize of $16,000. The prize purse being offered at the 2008 Casinos of Winnipeg Women’s Classic is the richest in the world ever offered. In addition, the Casinos of Winnipeg Women’s Classic has been selected by the Canadian Curling Association as one of four Grand Slam events for the season, teams qualifying for the championship round will receive Grand-Slam points: First (36 pts); Second (27 pts); Semi-Finalists (22 pts); Quarter-finalists (18 pts). Reigning World and Canada champion and the #1 Team in the World, the Jennifer Jones team will face Manitoba’s own Linda Stewart in opening round action on Friday, Oct. 24 at the Fort Rouge Curling Club. Other first round key match-ups will feature Olympic Bronze Medallist and 2007 Casinos of Winnipeg Classic Winner, Shannon Kleibrink up against Manitoba’s Kim Link, while the multi-world champion Annette Norberg from Sweden will take on Manitoba’s Kaileigh Strath. In addition, Kaitlyn Lawes, the 2008 Canadian Junior Championship team will take on Kelly Scott, a previous World Champion on the opening 9:00 am draw on Friday, Oct. 24.

[2008-10-17] Vi laddar och tränar inför nästa stora tävling – Casinos of Winnipeg. Avresa på tisdag och sedan väntar två dagars träning på plats i Winnipeg.
